PPCV – Groups at our Residential centres

Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) run two volunteer residential centres where groups of volunteers can stay over well undertaking their conservation volunteer project.  These centres make ideal locations for groups to spend a weekend or overnight stay midweek in the Peak District National Park.  It gives the group staying at the centres time in the evenings to experience more of the Peak District National Park’s unique qualities, through other activities in the evening.  This gives an ideal opportunity for community groups to use the volunteer’s centres.  In the past we have had a wide selection of groups using them such as Scout and Guide groups, other youth groups, school and university groups, walking and rambling groups, other conservation volunteer groups as well as a wide variety of community groups.

The two centres a set up just like bunk houses.  Their self-catering but have all the facilities you would require such as toilets, showers and a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, cutlery, microwave, cooker and fridge.  Volunteers only need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, tea towel, suitable clothing and personal equipment

We can then take you in our minibus out onto the conservation project during the day.  The PPCV team will be on hand to guide you through the day.  PPCV will provide all the necessary tools and PPE, with a quick and clear explanation on how to use all the tools.  We will then explain about the particular site you’re working on and why your project is important to it.  Obviously with all outdoor practical projects there is a small element of risk but all the PPCV team are first aid trained and equipped with first aid kits.

If you’d like to set up a project day for your group, the next step is to chat to or email the PPCV team, (Dave.Cramp@peakdistrict.gov.uk or 01433 631433)
