Residential Conservation Projects

The Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) provides fantastic conservation opportunities; tailor- made to fulfil the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential Programme and the Queen’s Scout / Queen Guide Award   . Located within the Peak District National Park at our residential centres, Marsh Farm, near Leek and Brunts Barn, near Grindleford.

Some of our project dates are now starting to fill up and we do work on a first-come first-served base

  • 2019 programme

  • 13th 17th April 19 at Marsh Farm
  • 26th – 30th July at Brunt’s Barn
  • 2nd – 6th August at Brunt’s Barn
  • 9th – 13th August at Brunt’s Barn
  • 16th – 20th August at Brunt’s Barn
  • 28th October – 1st November at Marsh Farm

These projects are available to people aged 18 and above.

We provide food, accommodation, use of tools and equipment and travel to and from site cost £215

Ranger led guided walk looking at the habitats of the Peak District National Park

Introduction to the Peak District National Park, your   project, and the John Muir Award 1pm-

Finish John Muir Award and receive your certificate. Clean and tidy the centre. Leave at 3pm

You will spend your evening leisure time in one of the National Park Authority’s volunteer’s residential centres, which offers bunkhouse accommodation in converted stone barns at Brunts Barn Volunteer Centre Grindleford, Derbyshire Marsh Farm Volunteer Centre Meerbrook, Staffordshire

Cooking as a team in our self-catering facilities (groceries provided) and organising your domestic arrangements as a group is an essential part of your project experience.

During your residential, you will also complete the certificated John Muir Award  which is designed to celebrate the special qualities of the National Park.  The award aims to encourage participants to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the features that make it such a special, valued and characteristic place

Confirmation

Once your application form and payment have been received, you will receive a receipt and a letter confirming your place on the project.

Cancellations

In the case of cancellation by the participant, up to one month before the start date of the project we will refund the amount paid minus £10 administration costs. For cancellations within a month of the start date, the full amount will be retained.
